With more than 10 years’ experience traveling this beautiful island, nurturing ever-expanding knowledge and understanding of Sardinia, and being fortunate to have many contacts, friends (including those who have become family) in Sardegna, I am now sharing my love and knowledge by offering tours as well as trip consulting services. Both are thoughtfully designed to provide you with unique experiences and expand your appreciation of Sardinia’s natural beauty, culture, history, people, arts — including food, wine, and, of course, textiles!
I personally curate and design each tour to carefully provide you with amazing, memorable, and relaxing experiences you’ll treasure. In terms of arts and culture, some tours focus more on Sardinian handweaving, while others export a wider selection of traditional Sardinian arts and handicraft. All include insights from expert Sardinian artists and guides, and offer glimpses and experiences not found on the typical tourist track!
See tour descriptions and tentative 2026 dates below. Dates will be confirmed in August 2025, after which I’ll also hold Q&A sessions to help you decide which trip is right for you.
To receive the final 2026 schedule as soon as it’s published, make certain you’re on our mailing list. You’ll also receive an invitation to the Q&A sessions about the tours (of course, there’s no obligation or cost to attend).
If you prefer to travel on your own, I also offer custom trip consulting services.
Sardinian Textiles, Arts, Culture, and Natural Beauty Tour
10 days, 10 nights, offered in May and October
This is an overview of what to expect. Exact itineraries vary from tour to tour.
Designed for textile enthusiasts who want to learn about traditional Sardinian handweaving, see some of the island’s other arts and cultural traditions, and enjoy Sardinia’s beauty. Sardinia is a relaxed island that offers beautiful synchronistic opportunities, and we’ll not rush the experience! In most locations, we’ll stay at least two nights, and make day or local trips so that you can get to know the locale. All tours start and end in Olbia (airport code OLB), at or near the airport, and include 8-12 guests.
On this tour, you can look forward to the following:
- Visit 2 or 3 handweavers in their studios in different areas of Sardinia and see demonstrations of their techniques, style, and art
- Visit 1-2 artisans working by hand in other Sardinian traditional arts.
- Participate in 1-2 hands-on workshops or classes
- Visit several historic and prehistoric sites
- Explore several cultural and arts museums with an eye towards weaving and textiles
- Experience guided tours of centuries-old city centers — with time to explore on your own!
- Unwind at an agriturismo that produces its own wine and food, with exquisite dinners rich in local flavor and and a wine talk from the in-house sommelier
- Enjoy relaxing time at beautiful beaches
- Stretch your legs with nature hikes (walks) in beach/relatively flat terrain
- Relax and view Sardinia’s beauty from air-conditioned SUVs or small vans as knowledgeable drivers and guides transport us from place to place on the island.
- Stay in 3-star and above hotels, double accommodation (limited single accommodation at additional cost)
- Dine well with all breakfasts, lunches (some will be picnic-style), and dinners provided during the tour, along with snacks.
The tour starts with an evening meal and group welcome, and ends with a group breakfast and drop-off at the Olbia airport. There will be drives of up to about 2.5 hours. Participants must be able to walk up and down a flight of stairs, walk over cobblestones, walk on unpaved paths, and walk 200 yards. Due to Sardinia’s traditional culinary traditions and the remoteness of some areas we’ll visit, there are limited options for special diets (including gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, vegan, Kosher, and others).
Out of respect for the handweavers and other artists we visit, all of whom earn their livings selling their art (not giving demonstrations), we ask that each tour member set aside funds to purchase items directly from the artists. Purchasing directly from the artists also imparts meaning and memory into a unique acquisition you’ll likely treasure for years.
